Privacy Policy
Effective 17 September 2026
Spin The Plates has no accounts and no sign-up. Your plates, your check-ins and your reflections are written to your own device and stay there. Nothing is uploaded unless you switch on AI help for a specific plate — and then only that plate's details are sent.
We do not sell your data, we show no ads, and there is no analytics or tracking software of any kind in this app.
What stays on your device
Unless you turn on AI help, everything the app knows lives only in Spin The Plates's private storage on your iPhone or iPad:
- Your life areas and plates, including names, symbols and check-in rhythms
- Every spin you log, and anything you wrote on it
- Your commitments and their reminder times
- Your weekly reflections and how you rated each area
- The first name you entered for your greeting, and your app settings
We cannot see any of it. It is not backed up to us, and there is no server copy to request or delete. If you delete the app, this data is erased with it — which is why the app lets you save your own backup file, kept wherever you choose.
What is sent, and only when you ask for it
AI suggestions and mentor chat are off by default. They are switched on per plate. When you enable a plate, these details for that plate are sent to our server and passed to our AI provider to generate a reply:
- The plate's name, life area and check-in rhythm
- When you last spun it, and the titles of recent spins on it
- Any actions you keep saved on that plate
- Open commitments on that plate, with their dates, so advice does not clash with them
- Anything you chose to type into that plate's context: who it is about, an age range, your goal, a note on the current situation, and a preferred mentoring style
- Your messages in that plate's mentor conversation
Plates you have not enabled are never sent. The app shows you the exact list of what will be shared for a plate before you turn it on. Your greeting name, your reflections and your ratings are never sent.
How you are identified
On first use the server issues a random installation number and a secret key, and keeps only a one-way cryptographic hash of that key. The key is held in your device's Keychain.
- No email, name, phone number, Apple ID or advertising identifier is collected
- The installation number is randomly generated — never derived from your device
- Because only a hash is stored, the key on your device is the sole way to reach your data, and knowing an installation number on its own reveals nothing
- We have no way to connect an installation to a person
Subscriptions and purchases
Plates Pro is sold through your Apple ID. We never see or handle your payment details — Apple takes the payment and tells us only whether a subscription is active.
- Purchases are processed by Apple. Your card, billing address and Apple ID are known to Apple, not to us.
- To check your entitlement we use RevenueCat, a subscription management service. Apple issues an anonymous purchase identifier for the app, and RevenueCat holds the purchase record against a random subscriber id together with the plan, renewal date and country reported by the App Store.
- That subscriber id is random and is not your name, email or Apple ID. It is not linked to your plates: your plate content is never sent to RevenueCat, and no purchase data is sent to our AI provider.
- Our server asks RevenueCat whether a subscriber id has an active subscription before allowing paid AI features, and records the answer plus a count of AI actions used this month. It records nothing else about the purchase.
- Restoring purchases on a new device asks Apple and RevenueCat about that same anonymous identifier. It restores access only — it carries no plate data.
Notifications
Reminders for plates and commitments are scheduled by iOS on your device and involve no server.
If you switch on the daily personal nudge, Apple's notification token for your device is stored on our server and used only to deliver that nudge through Apple Push Notification service. If you turn the nudge off, it stops being used. You can also switch on discreet previews so the notification text stays hidden until you unlock.
Service providers
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | The plate details listed above, for enabled plates only | To generate the suggestion or mentor reply. Sent through our server, so your device never contacts them directly and no key of ours is ever in the app. |
| Apple | Your notification token and the nudge text | To deliver the daily nudge |
| RevenueCat | A random subscriber id and the subscription record Apple reports for it | To confirm whether Plates Pro is active, on this device and after a restore. No plate content is ever sent to them. |
| Cloudflare | Connection data, including your IP address | Hosts our server and delivers the request |
Your IP address is briefly used in a counter that limits how many new installations can enroll from one address per hour, to stop the open enrollment endpoint being abused. That counter holds no plate data and expires on its own.
How long the server keeps anything
- Each plate's mentor conversation is trimmed to the most recent messages; older turns are deleted
- Deleting a plate in the app deletes that plate's context and its whole conversation from the server
- Switching AI off stops anything further being sent
- Delete all data in Profile erases your device's records and instructs the server to erase everything held for your installation
- Your purchase history is the exception: Apple and RevenueCat keep it as the record of what you bought, so a subscription can still be restored. We keep the count of AI actions used in the current month for the same reason — it is a billing counter, not a record of anything you wrote.
Children
Spin The Plates is made for adults managing their own commitments, and is not directed at children. A plate may of course be about your child — you decide entirely what, if anything, you type there, and we ask for no identifying detail. An age range is optional and exists only so advice suits the child's stage.
AI is guidance, not advice
Suggestions and mentor replies are generated text. They are not medical, legal, financial or crisis advice, and the mentor cannot schedule, book or complete anything on your behalf — it only proposes, and you decide. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency service.
Your rights
Because we hold no identity for you, the controls are in the app itself: turn AI off for any plate, delete a plate to erase its server copy, or use Delete all data to erase everything. For questions, write to rpmentor@gmail.com.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, for anything material, say so in the app.
